Lucky Bamboo - AKA Dracaena Sanderiana

One of the best plant finds of my life is probably Lucky Bamboo. Not only does it make your home, office or any other space feel super peaceful, it also brings tons of possibilities for décor designs without having to break the bank.

Most people are not aware that Lucky Bamboo is actually not part of the Bamboo family at all. It is in fact a type of tropical water lily called Dracaena Sanderiana.

That said, the history around the Lucky Bamboo plant alone is enough to make it a must have.

Lucky Bamboo is well know for its use in Feng Sui and have been used in this manor for over 4000 years. It is believed to bring luck and prosperity to the place where it is grown. Now, I think this is something we could all do with in abundance at this day and age.

It is common practice to tie the bamboo stem in your arrangement together with a red ribbon. This represents the bamboo as an element of wood and the red ribbon as an element of fire. Together this symbol is known to create balance and safety or a sense thereof.

Nevertheless, I think that any plant mommy or plant daddy will find joy in nurturing Lucky Bamboo. I can almost go so far as to guarantee you that you will love it. Not even mentioning the propagation possibilities... that is a whole other discussion.

Bamboo or not, they are absolutely lush!
